Multitouch/Flash

For a long time I have been a fan and strong believer of Multitouch devices. As a matter of fact, it was the TED conference with Jeff Han’s presentation that got me going on that. This Wednesday, I met with three extraordinary people from the scene. Harry van der Veen and Pradeep George from the Natural User Interface Europe AB and Georg Kaindl, MT interaction designer from the Technical University of Vienna. We had very fruitful discussions on how to enable Flash developers to easily create innovative applications for MT. We agreed that what MT needs to really get going are the above mentioned innovative applications. This includes more then zooming into pictures and finger painting. Once there is an application companies can make real use of, MT will become popular and available to the mass market.

Interested Flash developers: please check out the Georg’s touché framework and join the NUI Group now. I’m looking for and will start promoting MT Flash based apps that go beyond what we there is today.

I encourage all Flash developers out there to get familiar with this new kind of devices, as it will heavily influence the market in the upcoming years. A quick quote from our conversations: “When our children will walk up to a display, they will touch it and expect to do something.”

Look forward to more efforts in this direction.
